Sheikh Idris Oni

Imam (Dr.) Idris Ajani Oni

Imam (Dr.) Idris Ajani Oni is a distinguished Islamic scholar and educator who has achieved academic excellence through his rigorous educational pursuits. Born in the 1980s, he began his academic journey with pre-primary and primary education from 1992 to 1998, while concurrently commencing his Arabic and Islamic studies at Markaz Da'wah al-Islamiyyah. He subsequently pursued his secondary education at Stadium Grammar School, Ifako-Ijaiye, and Sango Senior Secondary School, Agege. Dr. Oni's academic achievements include a First-Class Honours degree in Islamic Studies from Tai Solarin University of Education, where he graduated as the best student in the College of Humanities in 2011. He further earned his Master's degree in Islamic Studies, specializing in Muslim Societies, from Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, between 2013 and 2015, and completed his Ph.D. research in Islamic Eschatology from the same university.

As a seasoned academic and Islamic scholar, Dr. Oni has established himself as a prolific researcher and educator. He serves as a Senior Lecturer and Head of the Department of Islamic Studies at Crescent University, Abeokuta, and holds various leadership positions in mosques, including Ratībi Imām at Ar-Rahīm Mosque, Laderin Abeokuta, and Acting Chief Imām at Taqwā Mosque, Lafenwa, Abeokuta. Additionally, he serves as one of the acting Deputy Imams of Crescent University and one of the University's Orators. Dr. Oni has published in several local and international academic journals and has attended numerous academic trainings in Nigeria and abroad. His research interests and passions include Da'wah, Islamic Education, Peaceful Coexistence, and the promotion of cultural values. Through his work, Dr. Oni seeks to promote greater understanding, tolerance, and cooperation among people of different faiths and backgrounds, contributing to the development of a harmonious and inclusive society.
